Panerai’s distinct design is unmistakable, and its fine quality is undeniable. From the vintage look of the Radiomir to the contemporary elegance of the Luminor, each Panerai watch has a timeless appeal that is uniquely its own.
Passionate about breaking new ground, Panerai timepieces offer features not seen in other luxury watches. The Radiomir and Luminor are both stellar examples of the brand's longstanding commitment to creating new, innovative, and luxurious timepieces. From the brand's line of submersible diver's watches, to its clever use of the power reserve, to its trademark alloys, Panerai is of a different caliber.
In 1860, Giovanni Panerai opened a shop and watchmaking school called Officine Panerai along the Ponte alle Grazie in Florence, Italy. In 1916, the watch brand was tasked by the Royal Italian Navy to provide it with certain military-grade instruments. The result was Panerai’s Radiomir, a radium-based material that gives dials a certain luminosity. You can own a piece of the luxury watch brand's history with the Panerai Radiomir 1940 White Dial Automatic Men's Watch, an updated version of the classic Swiss-made timepiece featuring a polished stainless steel case, beige leather strap, and a scratch-proof sapphire crystal back.
By 1949, Panerai had discovered a new self-luminous substance known as Luminor, which was brought to life in its collection of Luminor watches. Through the years, Panerai has further evolved in its use of different materials and substances. One such example is its creation of Carbotech™, a special material is made from thin sheets of carbon fibers combined with a high-end polymer called PEEK (polyether ether ketone) that makes its watches even more durable and aesthetically unique. Another one of its unique materials is its high-tech ceramic, used in the cases for the line's Radiomir watches. This extremely durable form of ceramic serves as long-lasting protection against corrosion and wear.
True to its Italian roots, each timepiece is meticulously designed and crafted with the best possible materials. In its pursuit of premium quality, Panerai created Goldtech™—a special alloy integrated with copper and platinum, which prevents the metal from oxidizing. The sophisticated Luminor Marina with a brown dial and 18-karat rose gold is made with this custom alloy. The Swiss-made watch also comes equipped with a long power reserve of eight days and the signature small seconds indicator at 9 o'clock. Another collection of note is Panerai's Submersible series, which features timepieces that are specifically made for divers.
Panerai is known for statement pieces that come equipped with highly specialized technical features. With more than a century of watchmaking expertise, the luxury brand is renowned for its well-crafted timepieces that are an effortless union of impeccable Italian design and world-renowned Swiss technology.
